This is the web site of the HE-Special-UK mailing list. We are a group of families who Home Educate children with Special Educational Needs.
'"Home Education" is the UK term for what may be better known as Homeschooling. Our children don't attend school, or in some cases may only attend school part time.
If you are Home Educating a child with Special Educational Needs, or if this is something that you are thinking about, then I'd like to invite you to join us. You will be very welcome.'
IPSEA is a volunteer-based organisation and many of the volunteers are themselves parents of children with special educational needs. IPSEA can provide: free independent advice; free advice on appealing to the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, including representation when needed; free second professional opinions.
A paid service with means-tested discounts. Educational Equality works with families, children and young people (aged up to 25) throughout England and Wales, with the aim of gaining appropriate support to help those with Special Educational Needs to reach their potential. Can advise on SEN Legislation, processes and strategy and suggest suitable assessments from professional therapists and/or educational psychologists.
Young Adults Group, for 16 to 25 year olds with additional needs starting in Tewkesbury. Activities include sports, board games, music, art & craft etc, and a social hour to develop friendships.
